Hi, I'm Kayelene!

I'm guessing you're here because...

You, or someone you love is struggling with reading, spelling, written expression, or maybe even numeracy.

I’ll bet you have heard it all, “read more”, “practice more”, “try harder”, “It will click”; I could keep going, instead I’m just going to tell you are not alone, and you’re in the right place.

Henry Ford said “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”, and it is this understanding that lead to the creation of Lift Learning. Repeating the same methods in a different setting did not help my child, so I had to find a way to fill the gaps myself.

I learnt was that there is a more effective way to teach, that supports learners with learning difficulties, complex needs and persistent literacy difficulties. This knowledge informs the methods, programs and resources used in my therapy sessions.

I'm guessing you're here because...

You’ve done everything you know how, everything you have been told to with little to no change.

Lift Learning is not another cookie cutter tutoring franchise. I use both diagnostic and normed assessments to get a more complete picture of each individual’s strengths and weaknesses, and create personalised learning plans. I use explicit direct instruction and lessons are taught in logical order to support learning and set the scene for success.

I wish when I started teaching I had known how to identify students at risk of specific learning difficulties like dyslexia and dysgraphia and how to help them.

As a parent, I wish I knew what I know now – I would have got my child the help they needed well before grade three when the school finally agreed something was wrong.

That is why I started Lift Learning: there are too many kids and adults that simply haven’t had the education they need to feel confident and competent at school, at work or in the community – and everyone deserves that at the very least.
